About Colton Giles

Artist Bio:

Colton Giles is a lifelong South Carolina artist, born and raised in the Midlands. Drawing inspiration from his enduring love of mythology, fantasy, and nature, his work often concentrates on the cryptic and arcane. Primarily self-taught, Colton’s mediums of choice are pen and ink, graphite, linoleum block-print, and digital, with a recent interest in watercolor. Colton lives in Lexington with his partner Amanda and their many pets.

Artist Statement:

Fantasy is not an escape from, but a form of understanding our reality. Whether it’s art, novels, movies, or music, fantasy is a vehicle that allows us to interpret and make sense of the world we live in through the lenses of others. My own journey on this craft nurtures a relentless urge to create, often to the detriment of my ability to focus on one single medium. My art is a cipher to my actuality; fantasy is the steed beneath me.
