Artist Statement
I recently listened again to Neal Diamonds' song, "Coming to America". It paints this image of people coming to this wonderful place from all over the world.....very "patriotic". Those lyrics are much at odds with the images and stories we are hearing and seeing daily from our news media sources.
It feels more like " Come here at your own risk !!
And by the way.... your chance of getting in....well...you might just be 'shit out of luck' if you're the wrong color or of the wrong religion or from the wrong country. And the folks that have fulfilled all the requirements only to have the chance to become citizens ripped away......it brings me to tears.
