Artist Statement
The Death of Submission is a work that examines the historical social roles women have assumed. This work is about how we, as women, need to break the societal boundaries that have previously been set for us by the patriarchy. Each vessel is adorned with words and imagery that are associated with what it means to be submissive. The objective of this piece is to make the viewer reconsider the light in which we describe our feminine partners, as well as reevaluate, through discomfort, what it means to be submissive in a societal context.
