Sarah Bauer

Sarah Bauer is an emerging abstract artist based in Blythewood, SC, known for bold, textured compositions that balance modern intensity with refined restraint. Through her studio name, Organic Artistry, she transforms personal resilience into layered visual narratives of strength, movement, and raw beauty.

Artist Statement

My work explores the tension between control and surrender. I build each painting through layered, instinctive marks that are scraped back, reworked, and revealed, allowing the history of the process to remain visible on the surface. I don’t remove the disruption — the friction and imbalance are essential to the narrative.

Trust the Process reflects this approach. It speaks to persistence through uncertainty and the willingness to let a piece evolve beyond its original plan. Rather than forcing resolution, I allow the composition to break down, rebuild, and find its own structure.

Across my practice, I’m drawn to moments of collapse and reformation — where order gives way to raw energy and something more authentic emerges. My goal isn’t perfection; it’s truth in the making.

Presented by the Jasper Project, The Degenerate Art Project II is the answer to an overwhelming request by artists and patrons of Jasper's inaugural Degenerate Art Project (July 2025) for an additional exhibition which will involve an open call for visual artists. This 3 week-long multidisciplinary arts event (Feb. 11–28 at Stormwater Studios) invites Midlands artists to respond to today's socio-political climate, and unite our local arts community—physically and in spirit—in support and solidarity during challenging times. Inspired by—and reclaiming—the legacy of the Nazi-labeled "Degenerate Art" of 1937, this project champions creative resistance and free expression through a visual art exhibition, featuring over 40 Midlands artists.
