Columbia dance patrons want more. More cutting-edge choreography. More avantgarde performances unencumbered by expectations where the exquisite cocktail of creativity and talent can freely flow. They want to witness an all-professional company of dancers who have trained and danced all over the world and are excited to offer artistry for discerning adults with sophisticated dance palates. And they don’t want to wait another six months to do so!
The purpose of the Columbia Summer Rep Dance Company is to provide innovative dance experiences for local audiences and professional dancers who, due to the abbreviated seasons of Columbia’s professional dance companies, go without performing for half the year.
The 2019 season of the CSRDC was a test season engaging six dancers who, after one month of rehearsals, offered a sold-out performance, turning patrons away at the door. Covid-19 led to the suspension of the project in 2020, but the dancers are back in the studio now working on new choreography to bring to audiences for two nights - August 13th and 14th at Trustus Theatre.
