The Gallery at the Koger Center’s newest resident artist is Columbia’s own renowned artist, Heidi Darr-Hope. Darr-Hope is exhibiting her newest body of work, “Journeys Between Sea and Sky,” a collection of paintings on paper, canvas, and wood panels, along with an interactive installation titled “Offerings to the Guardians.”
The Koger Center and Darr-Hope are hosting a free opening reception on November 12, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public, and Darr-Hope will give an artist talk at 6 p.m.
In addition to the reception, Darr-Hope is offering two sessions of a free mindful mandala creation workshop on November 20; one is a lunch and learn session at 11:30 a.m., and the second is an afternoon tea session at 4:30 p.m. Join her for a meditative, hands-on art workshop.
“Mandala” is Sanskrit for circle. Drawing on Tibetan and Indian traditions, Darr-Hope uses the circle as a space for focus, centering, and discovery. Participants will learn the art of drawing a Mindful Mandala. No art experience is needed! Entry is free, but registration is required. Experience a novel way to appreciate art and delve into the practice of creating like Darr-Hope. Please bring a journal/notebook and pen with you to the session! Sign up today via Google Form.
